Sr Developer/Programmer

Senior Application Developer
We are a publicly-traded leader in entertainment industry systems and consulting, working with top movie studios and theatre circuits to create a new generation of technical solutions and services that will maximize efficiency, drive unprecedented revenue opportunities and aid the transition from film to digital.

We have an immediate opening for an exceptional software developer to assist in the further development of systems supporting our film distribution and digital cinema initiatives.

Main Job responsibilities:

• Develop software according to design and requirements specifications
• Unit testing, troubleshooting and debugging of own or team code.
• Create technical documentation and comments on assigned projects
• Perform code reviews and design reviews to keep project on track
• Assist in software deployment and maintenance
• Review database model, design and requirements documents and provides suggestions and enhancements
• Be able to work on a challenging and continuously evolving project scope
• Must be an accomplished software developer with experience designing and enhancing client-server applications
• Must follow consistent coding practices and naming conventions for all source-code files and objects.
• Work with management, customers, business analysts and our support organization to define and meet deliverables.

Attributes and Working Knowledge:

• 5 to 10 Years of MS-SQL development experience, some administrative skills but mainly stored procedures, triggers and SQL language development.
• 5 years of Visual Basic development
• Some knowledge of XML and related technologies (XSLT)
• Solid GUI development skills
• A comprehensive understanding of Transact-SQL, with an emphasis on stored procedure and trigger development and optimization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Should be a self-starter, able to manage his/her own time, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Practical knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Techniques.
• Development experience creating applications that run on multiple Microsoft operating system versions (Windows 98, 2000 and XP) Minimum 5 years experience.
• Development experience using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Minimum 4 years experience.
• Development experience using Crystal Reports, or another report creation tool is extremely desirable, but not required.
• Experience with .Net
• An understanding of performance considerations and trade-offs required for facilitating large mission critical databases that simultaneously balance heavy transaction volumes with significant decision support requirements.

Desired skills:

• Experience in accounting or accounting applications and concepts
• Some web development (DHTML, Javascript)
• Experience in the entertainment industry (Movie, TV or Radio)
• Development experience using HTML, DHTML, ASP and/or other Web based development tools is desirable, but not required.
• Development experience using Microsoft .Net is desirable, but not required.
